At 17, just before her senior year at Las Lomas, Megan Haney began her floral career by scrubbing buckets and sweeping floors at California Rose Company in Broadway Plaza.
While working toward her degree in Mass Communications at UC Berkeley, she worked as a designer at Floral Arts in Lafayette under the guidance of the original owner, Sally Houston. During her time at Cal, she also spent many weekends assisting designers Sandra Burns and Camilla Svensson Burns with weddings and special events around the Bay Area.
Upon receiving her diploma in 2000, she traveled to Europe for seven months, spending most of her time in the South of France. When she returned to the Bay Area, Megan was presented with the opportunity to take over the location where she had first started her floral career.
Without hesitation, Megan Haney Designs opened in Broadway Plaza January 2002. After five wonderful years running a retail florist and winning Diablo Magazine's Best Florist of the East Bay in 2006, Megan decided to move operations to a studio in Lafayette in order to focus more on weddings and special events.
